Noureddine Ziane was a student at Shimer College in the Waukegan period, later transferring to the University of Texas.
Ziane is a former junior chess champion of Morocco. He is a National Master of chess, and a professional poker player. He is registered with the U.S. Chess Federation and is a former chess player for the University of Texas at Dallas, where he was one of the first people to receive a chess scholarship.
Ziane founded the chess academy USA Chess along with Katie Stone.
